The Viper is dead. Long live the Viper.

The Hellcat/Demon are cool and all, but I wouldn’t miss them if they were gone. The death of the Viper pains me.

If I were Dodge, all the money spent to make the Hellcats and Demon would have gone into making the Viper actually marketable. Introducing a paddleshift transmission and other refinements.

They need to make a commercial saying:
Dodge makes the fastest cars on any track
Guitar solo, Viper going down the corkscrew
Fireworks, Demon lifting it fronts wheels.

The Viper was one of my first dream cars. This makes me sad. I still long for a 2003 SRT-10 convertible in Viper Red. Or a 1996 GTS in Blue/White.

The first driving game with real cars I played.

I think my first game with licensed cars was Test Drive on PS2. (TD Overdrive was the other name.)

Definitely would’ve been a better idea. Could’ve easily had a V8 option with a lower MSRP to compete with corvette. Instead they kept raising the price like Nissan does the GTR

Yes! I used to turn cheats on and shoot that big ball at all the other cars.

Oreca is love. Oreca is life.

But it helps.
I love the Roadkill Hellcat siblings (General Mayhem and General Maintenance).
For the record, when I was young, I really wanted a first-gen Viper. Such an amazing car.

I have that on my computer

I received a copy of that game as a free bonus when I ordered the original Unreal. Viper Racing was one of the first racing games I ever saw that tried to simulate real physics. Sadly the video engine does not work right with newer operating systems (and definitely doesn’t work under WINE). Someday I may need to dig out my ancient computer and install Windows 98 (*shudder*) just so I can play the game again.

A Voodoo wrapper seems to do fine
.
The VRGT site
claims to have more fixes, but the web hosting service of the page it linked to has shut down.

Oooooh! That’s interesting. Coincidentally it was a Voodoo video card I used to use in my old computer. I shall have to give that a try at some point.
I wonder if installing a driver for newer Windows would let me run my Logitech G27 wheel with that game. That would be a hoot.

That last one they made is so sexy, I hope they depreciate....
